I guess since I started this one I'll get it started. My absolute favorite is We Were Soldiers starring Mel Gibson. It is based in the Vietnam war, and is about the 7th air cavalry. It is a brand new idea of leaping in and out of battle with helicopters. The main section of the movie is LZ X-ray in the ia drang valley. Even the toughest dude could cry for this movie, it's intense. This is a true story and the book was excellent. I strongly recommend this film. Also HBO's mini-series Band of Brothers was pretty great too.

If you are sensitive to sexual content like I am you need to skip a scene in the last episode, right after one soldier tries to get some eggs from a German girl. Other than that excellent. As for Saving Private Ryan: I thought the story was cool, and the battle scenes were great. However the conversation is not historically accurate. They made a homosexual reference in the movie, but in world war two they would have beat up the guy who joked about homosexuality. So it was slightly unrealistic. Other than that I enjoyed it.

Right on! I am watching Band of Brothers as well. It is Awesome. Another good war movie is Black hawk down.

I think that we should name our team Easy company...or rig ourselves with WW2 stuff, running modern as Phalanx and WW2 as Easy.

Well, the Airborne, right? The Band of Brothers are Airborne so that's where I got it from. The 101st Airborne division is famous for its involvement in D-day, Operation Market Garden, Bastogne, etc., winning glory all over Europe. But the reputation is never gained unless through serious training. Not that we should work our tails off to play airsoft, but we should give ourselves a reason to be proud of our Task Force.
As far as equipment is concerned, I don't see our needing parachutes (wouldn't that be awesome?!). I like the idea of grenades. A few pineapple frags hanging off our gear would be iconic. We could have an M1919 machine gun (impractical, but sounds good) or tote around the ol' M1A1s. M1911s are a must and I think that we would need those Airborne insignias. 'sigh' It's fun to dream like this!
