There are two things you need in order to fire: a gun and ammo (mags).
I use an M4.
I am currently trying to get some midcaps. Any experience you have had with acquiring midcaps can be helpful. Please share brands, stores, prices, etc. Much appreciated!
If anyone needs mags and wants advice, put questions here. Be sure to state the gun model as well.

I personally use king arms m4 midcaps as they're cheap and functional. But they are made of plastic.

Good plastic? That usually is equivalent to metal. Also, I prefer a larger capacity of BBs.

The Elite Force mags are an excellent choice and hold 140 rounds, I believe. Plastic mags are actually very durable. I wouldn't worry about using them. Get metal mags down the road.

How many of these mags do you think one would need for an outing?

I run with three, but for you, I'd say five would suffice.

Are you saying something about my ammo consumption? Seriously though, I think that five sounds good and I can get a combined package.

I have five king arms mags, m4. They are plastic, hold around 100 rounds effectively, and are cheap.

120, 140, or more on BB capacity. King arms and Elite Force both sound good.

Mid caps do come in handy. Unfortunately I only have one, but I do have two high caps which make a lot of noise when running. So again, mid caps come in handy.

What model of gun?

Winding and rattle is the #1 reason for high caps being disliked. Also, mids are made to simulate RS bullets. In an AR-15, the magazine holds 30 rounds. Most airsofters agree that the airsoft equivalent to one bullet (seeing how it takes longer to hit the target with a bb) is 3 bbs. Hence why mid caps hold approximately 90 rounds. The spare 40-50 rounds are because some of us are bad shots, and are not bound by the the average 1:3 ratio...

The gun may be an AK but my Ak's have always held up.
